We were appointed by West Herts College Group to undertake transport planning inputs for the second phase redevelopment of their Barnfield College site in Luton, having previously worked on their first phase, which opened in September 2022. We have also been working with WHC on their Hemel Hempstead site, with a new building currently submitted for planning.
Barnfield College is a vocational Further Education College. WHC had developed a new masterplan for this campus, with new college buildings, sports provision and linear park, and the second phase of this work will allow completion of their plans. To fund the work, WHC are also seeking planning consent for a residential development on a second campus, with students from that campus moving to the new buildings.
We were employed to provide a Transport Statement for the new College building as well as a Transport Assessment for the outline application for residential properties on the Enterprise Way campus.
We also provided a Travel Plan for the College, which has been approved to discharge the relevant planning condition for the first phase of the redevelopment.
The site received planning permission in November 2022, with opening expected in Autumn 2024.
