Grainger Land and Regeneration are developing a mixed use scheme on a site to the West of Waterlooville, Hampshire.

Initially there will be 2000 houses with a reserve provision of 1000 houses plus a further 30 Hectares of land for industrial, commercial and business purposes.

The land straddles the administrative boundaries of Winchester City Council and Havant Borough Council, and together with the Hampshire County Council are producing a Masterplan for the whole development area.

Mayer Brown’s Role:

• Mayer Brown is providing a Transportation Assessment Report and advice to Grainger Trust on the layout and design of the highways within the MDA.

• The highway advice takes into account alternative modes of transport which will link the MDA with Waterlooville as well as integrating with the wider transport links with Portsmouth, Havant and Winchester.

• The design will encourage cycling and walking in a safe environment, and will encourage the use of public transport and the bus nework. Public Transport corridors are incorporated linking the MDA with the South Hants Rapid Transit (SHRT) A3 Bus Priority Corridor.

• Traffic control measure to ensure safe vehicle speeds are being incorporated in the highway design, which will ensure that the highways are used by appropriate traffic only.

• Mayer Brown has responsibility for providing, analysing and assessing the traffic data and flows that will be expected once the development is completed and during the construction phase.

• Mayer Brown is also providing advice on the Gravity Foul Drainage, Waste Disposal and Recycling, and the Sustainable Drainage (Suds) design.

• We are providing a number of inputs to the Environmental Statement for the site. These include Noise; Air Quality, Climate and Emissions; Geology and Contaminations; Water Quality, Hydrology and Drainage; Service Supplies, Lighting and Transportation.

• Site Investigation Work.
