Castle Morpeth Borough Council Scheme Objectives:To develop a masterplan for the regeneration of the village centre. A clear vision of the future development of the village is required which will be sufficiently robust to support an outline planning application. This will form part of the Ponteland Village Centre Area Action Plan, a key element of the emerging Castle Morpeth Local Development Framework.
Mayer Brown’s Role:
Mayer Brown are working with planning consultants Nathanial Litchfield and Partners, and chartered surveyors Storeys: ssp, in developing a Master Plan for the village centre. Mayer Brown are providing transport planning support and advising on accessibility, traffic flows, road improvement options and local transport options. Mayer Brown are also undertaking consultations with local residents and businesses as well as the local authority and other key stakeholders.
A preferred option for the future development of the village will be prepared in detail for local evaluation, which will identify sources of funds, timescales, methods of delivery and which will identify potential concerns and risks.
