Scheme Objectives:To improve the DIY retail offer in the Medway towns. B & Q proposed a new warehouse store at the former Civil Service Sports Ground alongside the A2, Watling Street in Gillingham, Kent. Including a Bulk Builders Yard and Garden Centre, it will be the largest B & Q development in the UK and will replace the nearby existing B & Q Supercentre.

Mayer Brown’s Role:Mayer Brown helped to steer the project through the planning process with a package of transport improvements to enable the store to be accessible to its wide catchment area.

The existing roundabout on the A2 main road is being enlarged to accommodate the development and new pedestrian and cycle facilities are being provided. Mayer Brown has carried out the detailed design of these transport improvements and are responsible for supervising their implementation.
