VISSIM Modelling for a Double Roundabout, Maidenhead
Project Section:
Modelling and GISClient:
Campmoss Property Co. Ltd for the Highway AgencyScheme Objectives:
Modelling and analysis have been undertaken to evaluate the impact of the additional traffic associated with the proposed redevelopment of the Highway House site and specifically addresses the concerns raised by the Highways Agency relating to any potential for these junctions to
block back onto the A404M.
The close proximity of the two roundabouts renders the traditional modelling tools ineffective. VISSIM micro-simulation modelling software package was chosen for this work and models were developed and applied to evaluate the impacts of the development.
Mayer Brown’s Role:
The modelling tasks included:
- Collection and analysis survey data to establish base traffic demand for the AM and PM periods.
- Development and calibration of the base models.
- Evaluation of the performance of the double roundabout with added traffic as a result of the
proposed development, for both the base year 2005 and future year 2020.
