Scheme Objectives:
Following the development of a town centre economic regeneration strategy, a public realm masterplan was developed with the following principal objectives:

  • Reduce the impact of traffic.
  • Deliver a more pedestrian friendly environment.
  • Deliver a public realm useable by all.
  • Foster an environment for business and community enterprise.
  • Achieve a pragmatic yet aspirational design.
  • Deliver a unique scheme with local distinctiveness.
  • Engender a pride of place.

Mayer Brown’s Role:
Mayer Brown provided transport planning, traffic management and highway design support for the preliminary and detailed design phases of the project.

Working closely with Urban Design consultants and Bridgend Engineers, we negotiated practical solutions which delivered the aspirational aspects of the strategy.

We also supported the stakeholder consultations with a range of technical presentations on the impacts of the traffic management options associated with the strategy improvements.
