Scheme Objectives:

Extension of an existing hotel and conference venue close to Blackburn, Lancashire. Proposal included 38 new bedrooms, increased restaurant and bar floor area, plus new leisure facilities and gym/sauna complex.

Mayer Brown’s Role:

Mayer Brown’s north west transport planning team completed a Transport Assessment and Travel Plan to support the successful planning application for the site.
The mixed use nature of the development presented challenges in terms of identifying trip demands, and levels of internalised trips.
Due to the sites rural location careful analysis of both trip levels and parking provision was required. Mayer Brown worked closely with the architect to produce an appropriate site layout that met the requirements of both the developer and the highway authority; Lancashire County Council.
