Liverpool John Moores University Expansion Gets Go-Ahead

A new faculty building has received the green light, continuing the growth of a key North West University (Right - Image courtey of ADP Architects).

Highway consultant Mayer Brown has provided transport planning support to the development at Liverpool John Moores University. The central site included restricted on site parking and required careful design for servicing arrangements.

Working with Liverpool City Council, Mayer Brown gained an agreement to a new drop off / pick up bay and servicing facility at the site. An initial proposal for this facility was considered unacceptable by the authority, and if a workable solution had not been found, it would have resulted in problems with the wider scheme design.

Work on the new building is due to start on site in the coming weeks, with completion planned for the 2011/12 academic year.

This work follows recent transport planning support provided for a range of education facilities across the UK, including the development of over 15 schools and colleges as part of Building Schools for the Future Programme, youth drop in centres and student halls of residence.
