Fleetwood Town on Track for the Football League
Planning permission has recently been granted by Wyre Borough Council for a new 2,000 capacity stand at Fleetwood Town Football Club’s Highbury Stadium (Right - Image courtesy of Fleetwood Football Club).
The development will provide the ambitious club with improved facilities necessary to allow eventual promotion to the Football League, whilst also generating essential commercial and non match day revenue.
Mayer Brown’s North West office provided highway consultancy support to the design team, which included project managers Partington Associates and scheme architects, Frank Whittle Partnership.
Work included face to face interviews with supporters on match day to gain trip patterns for attendees to the game. In addition Mayer Brown provided design advice for the car park layout and provision of on site coach, steward and disabled parking. Promotion of cycle and motorcycle modes was also contained within the scheme design.
Working with Lancashire County Council a travel plan was developed which considered both home and away supporters travel requirements in relation to a range of gate levels.
The Fleetwood Town development is just one of a number of successful sports and leisure projects with which Mayer Brown have recently provided transport support for throughout the UK.
Following the granting of planning permission, construction is expected to begin on site imminently.
