News from Bristol

Jeremy Douch has recently joined Mayer Brown as the Regional manager for the south west of England and South Wales.  Jeremy is a Transport Planner with 16 years’ experience advising a number of public and private Clients on a range of projects both in the UK and overseas.  He has undertaken Project Director and Project Manager roles on a number of multi-disciplinary commissions.  His expertise includes helping Clients secure planning permission by assessing the traffic impact and accessibility strategy for proposed new developments, and the formulation of accompanying Travel Plans.  He has a wealth of experience in the economic evaluation of road improvement schemes including the introduction of highway tolling; demand forecasting for new and improved public transport systems; transport modelling; transport policy and strategy; and public and stakeholder consultation.  Since 2004, Jeremy has been the Co-Chairman of the Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institute’s Transport and Built Environment Group.

Helen Iorwerth has joined our team as a Senior Consultant.  She was previously with White Young Green, based in Bristol for the past six years.  Helen has worked for a variety of public and private sector Clients producing a number of Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, and Technical Reports.  She has also been responsible for design projects including public transport interchanges, junction and traffic management studies, and for cycle and pedestrian routes. She is fully conversant with a number of junction modelling software packages including TRANSYT, LINSIG, ARCADY and PICADY.  Helen has a first degree in Geography and a Masters with Distinction in Transport Planning and Engineering.  She is a member of the Institution of Highways and Transportation and its South West Young Members and Recruitment Committee. 

Dan Withey recently joined Mayer Brown as a Transport Engineer.  He has five years experience working for organisations in both the public and private sectors.  His skills lie in Highway Design and Safety studies including managing schemes from preliminary through to detailed design and into construction. He has been responsible for site inspections, risk assessments, health and safety plans and undertaking stakeholder and public consultation.  He has been involved in road studies, public transport schemes and walking and cycling commissions.  He is fully conversant with industry standards for design and is proficient in AutoCAD, MX, Autotrack and AutoSign software.

Ping Lu started with Mayer Brown in October 2007 as a Graduate Transport Planner, after obtaining an MA in Built Environment Studies at the University of the West of England.  Since joining the organisation she has been involved in transport research projects and the provision of information for Transport Assessments including looking at potential accessibility strategies and assessing the trip generation associated with various land uses using the TRICS database.

These new staff complement the existing Bristol office personnel including Integrated Transport specialists involved in walking and cycling studies, and experts dedicated to highway and infrastructure design.
